Course Description

Stress can sabotage your ability to perform both on set and in life. Performers need to access their mental agility, imagination, body, and emotional memory at a moment's notice so learning to take care of yourself and your instrument, is essential to sustain a healthy life as an artist.

Hurry up and wait is a reality many performers deal with working on set. In this experiential workshop, you will learn mindfulness-based techniques to release unnecessary tension and maintain an active neutral state while waiting for your big scene. You will challenge that sneaky inner critic, and learn more about how to be in your comfort zone, to optimize your performance on set and in life.

You will learn what kinds of meditation support greater self-compassion and calm,  engage in self-compassionate writing, and learn more about different boundaries. You will leave the workshop with practical ways for relaxing into your role when needed and a stronger ability to quiet the inner critic. In addition, through brief lectures, writing, and discussion, you will walk away with a greater understanding of what your healthy boundaries are and how to express them assertively.
