Attention: Stunt Coordinators - about the "Use Payments" that stunt coordinators will be getting...

Hello Stunt Coordinators,

It's my understanding that there may be some Stunt Coordinators that have questions concerning the language that was changed in the last round of bargaining for the 2012-2015 BCMPA to include Stunt Coordinators to participate in the ratable distribution of Use payments distributed to Performers pursuant to Article C409 c) Distribution of Payments:

 C409 Distribution of Payments

d) Stunt Coordinators will participate in units assigned to Performers on the Aggregate amount of Distributors' Gross Revenue and will form part of the ratable distribution to Performers.

Essentially, this means that Stunt Coordinators will share in the pool for Use payments along with Stunt Performers and other Performers in residual-attracting categories for all productions that were signed to the 2012-2015 BCMPA whereby Use Fees are paid based on a percentage or participation of Distributors' Gross Revenue.

For example, the Prepayment Option requires The Producer to pay 3.6% of Distributors' Gross Revenue for any exploitation of the production after the expiration of the 4 or 5 year prepayment period.   After the Union receives a cheque for Use from the company, the Union will divide up the payment amongst the performers in residual-attracting categories based on the unit's formula in the collective agreement.  Units are determined by dividing each performer's Gross Fees earned at the time of production by the minimum rate for the lowest rated residual-attracting category which is typically the "Actor" rate.  Performers who have higher Gross Fees at the time of production will have more units for Use Fees, up to a cap of 20 units per individual performer for each production or episode.

Please refer to "About Residual and Use Fee Distributions" on the UBCP website at www.ubcp.com under "Residuals and Use Fees" for more detailed information.
If you have specific questions regarding residuals and Use payments on the production that you worked on, please contact Sandy Perron at (604) 689-0727, extension 2252 or by e-mail at Sandy.Perron@ubcp.com.

Thank you. With best regards,
