Hi Everyone

As many of you know, we are developing a relationship with "Fortius Sport & Health" to serve our training, sports medicine and rehabilitation needs.
It is a work in progress and all parties involved are working towards solutions that will make this facility the place to go to help you be stronger, better, healthier performers.

Unfortunately, we are currently facing significant challenges with Fortius treating injuries that happenat work.
All injuries, including concussions that happen at work, must involve WorksafeBC (even if you don't want to report them to WorkSafeBC and are willing to pay privately to rehab yourself!!!).   Fortius must report your injuries if you are hurt at work or else they face significant penalties, fines and repercussions.  They cannot work with WorksafeBC at this time with the way the WorkSafeBC system operates.  We are actively working on solutions to this problem and we hope to have progress to report to you within 6 months.

In the meantime, please note this important "disclaimer statement" that Fortius would like us to have to clear up any confusion that has resulted from the information that was presented at our Concussion Education Sessions on Nov. 27th and Dec 2nd.
Please contact me if you have any questions,
Best,
Lori Stewart

Important Clarifications re: Accessing the Concussion Program, Injury Treatment & Assessment at Fortius

All BC Stunt Performers now have the ability to sign up individually for baseline testing at the 'group rate' of $75.00 (discounted from $150).

Unfortunately, at this time Fortius cannot see any clients who have sustained a workplace concussion or injury.
Thus, if you sustain a concussion or injury at work, the assessment and return to work management will have to go through your family doctor.

However, if you have completed a 'baseline test' with Fortius, and you sustain a concussion at work, please contact Megan Durrant and she will communicate with your doctor in regards to your baseline test results to assist your doctor with the management of your injury.
Once your family doctor or physician is ready to clear you to return to work, you will be able to go back to Fortius and repeat your baseline assessment at NO COST.

If you sustain a concussion outside of work, and you have had a baseline test done already at Fortius, contact Megan Durrant as soon as possible for assistance.
If you sustain an injury outside of work, your family doctor or ER physician can refer you to Fortius for all of your medical assessment and rehabilitation needs.

We apologize for any confusion we may have caused at our recent Concussion Education Sessions and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work these challenges this on your behalf.
