Variances for WorkSafeBC are no longer required for stunt performers working on SCUBA in our industry!

The language has changed in the Guidelines and we are good to go - now, very clearly, actors and stunt performers are BOTH considered "principal performers".Revised Guideline CLICK HEREWorkSafeBC did make one addition that everyone should be aware of:All performers (both actors and stunts) will be required to have this PADI MEDICAL FORM CLICK completed by a physician. This will be something that productions should know ahead of time so they can possibly add it to the actors initial medical if one is being done. Here is WorkSafeBC's list of approved physicians for the required SCUBA medicals

We currently have 53 productions on the books at UBCP/ACTRA – it’s the busiest ever and it is the traditionally ‘slow time’ of year. Wow. We’ve seen a spike in some serious incidents and ‘near miss’ situations, ‘location problems’ along with a lot of bullying & harassment complaints. Many crew members have been promoted to higher positions and new and young workers are filling in the vacated positions.
